Play-2-Learn offers classes for
children in three different age groups.
All classes require parent/adult participation.
Ages Infant - 18 months:
The goal for this class is to bring moms together for
support as well as socialization for the little ones.
Songs and stories, movement and parachute time for the
kids and weekly "mom related" topics will provide a fun
morning for everyone!
Ages 18 months - 2 1/2 years: As
long as your toddler is walking, they are ready for this
exciting class. Our goal is to introduce these
children to a fun classroom environment. By
following a routine each week, the children learn what
to expect and what comes next. Each week a new
alphabet letter is introduced from the "letter box."
Group activities, crafts, and manipulatives coincide
with the letter of the day. Free time in the
playroom is a big hit with these kids. A group
story and song time end each class.
Ages almost 3 - 4 years: The
objective for these children is to provide a classroom
routine that allows the child to predict what
activity comes next. A lengthened circle-time is
the perfect opportunity for the calendar, daily weather,
and theme of the week to be introduced. A
teacher-directed group activity gives the children an
opportunity to follow directions and gain self
confidence in their finished project. Parent/child
station time include activities that introduce math,
phonics, pre-reading, science, cooking, crafts, and
writing and cutting practice. A variety of hands
on manipulatives are also available and enhance eye/hand
coordination. Socialization skills are
a big part of this classroom experience. Free time
in the playroom is the perfect place to make new
friends. Snack and a closing circle-time end each
class.
Ages 4 - 6 years: The
goal for this age group is to prepare them for the
kindergarten classroom. A classroom routine
teaches the children that there is a time to listen, a
time to work and create, and lots of time to play!
With parent helpers at each station, small group
stations have a 1-3 adult/child ratio. Academic
goals for this class include, but are not limited to:
Letter recognition and letter sounds, number recognition
1-20, color and shape recognition, counting 1-30,
writing their first name with upper and lower case
letters, sequencing, patterning, and sorting.
Socialization skills that are encouraged are: respect
for others and property, listening skills, following
directions, using our words to voice ourselves, and
sharing. A preschool graduation will conclude the
school year for every child entering Kindergarten.
